MGM Resorts and BetMGM join AGA’s responsible gambling campaign

The US gambling giant MGM Resorts International and its BetMGM joint venture with Entain have joined the American Gaming Association’s (AGA) Have a Game Plan, Bet Responsibly” gambling campaign.

This comes after the NFL’s New York Jet’s signed up to the campaign last week.

MGM and BetMGM team up with the AGA

Yesterday, MGM announced that MGM Resorts and BetMGM have become official partners of the AGA’s campaign.

The announcement comes during Responsible Gambling Education Week, during which MGM Resorts and BetMGM have shared important responsible gaming tips and information through their social media channels.

MGM Resorts and BetMGM will continue to promote its responsible gaming education throughout the year by providing useful information, tools, and resources on its apps and websites.

Richard Taylor, Responsible Gambling Program Manager, BetMGM said: “We are proud to become a partner of such an important initiative for the industry. “Through GameSense, we are committed to doing our part in creating a fun and safe experience for customers.”

Garrett Farnes, Responsible Gaming Compliance Manager, MGM Resorts, said: “This partnership complements our ongoing commitment to GameSense. GameSense has been an instrumental part of the MGM Resorts guest service model since 2017, helping customers understand the risks, where to get help and ultimately, how to keep gaming fun.”

GameSense is an industry-leading program, developed and licensed to MGM Resorts by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) that is intended to help operators engage in conversation with customers around responsible gambling.

Global Payments also signs up

The payment provider Global Payments also teamed up with the AGA for responsible gambling this week.

The partnership will see Global Payments incorporate Have A Game Plan into its social media channels and customer-facing marketing. The company will also communicate the importance of responsible gaming awareness through its extended weekly blog series.

“Global Payments is deeply committed to responsible gaming—and this is why we’re proud to join the Have A Game Plan initiative to promote responsible sports wagering,” said Global Payments President Christopher Justice. “Our success depends on continuing to build strong relationships with our customers that are rooted in education and responsibility.”

“With more Americans able to wager legally than ever before, the gaming industry is committed to making responsibility a key component of the legal sports betting market,” said AGA President and CEO Bill Miller. “Digital payments provide new tools for responsible gaming and through Global Payments’ partnership, their customers can have a fun, responsible, and seamless betting experience.”

The AGA’s campaign

Back in 2019, the AGA launched its “Have a Game Pan. Bet Responsibly” campaign, and since then several sports bodies and betting firms have made a commitment to it.

NASCAR became the first sports league to partner with the AGA’s campaign in September 2020. Since then, the National Hockey League, PGA Tour, and UFC have also committed themselves to the initiative.

Last month, the Washington Football Team also signed up to the AGA’s responsible gambling campaign, becoming the first NFL team to sign up. Last week, prior to the start of Responsible Gambling Education Week, the New York Jets also signed up for the campaign.

Other sportsbook operators, partnered with the AGA campaign include DraftKings and FanDuel. Other partners include the payment provider Sightline, as well as Sinclair Broadcast Group.
