FuboTV’s betting subsidiary, Fubo Gaming, has received approval to launch online sports betting in the state of Iowa.
Last month, Fubo revealed its Live Sync functionality between its sports betting app and streaming service.
Fubo in Iowa
On 31 August, Fubo Gaming received approval to offer online sports betting from the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission.
Fubo secured entry into Iowa through a market access agreement with Casino Queen.
Once the Fubo sports betting product goes live, bettors in Iowa will be able to take advantage of the “Watching Now” feature, which will integrate sports betting and live streaming with FuboTV.
According to the announcement, Fubo is on track to go live in the fourth quarter of 2021.
Butera, president, Fubo Gaming, said: “As we enter the mobile sports betting market, we couldn’t be more excited to kick off this journey in Iowa. We thank the IRGC and Casino Queen for being the perfect partner in helping us cross the goal line and bring this sportsbook to the passionate sports fans of Iowa.”
“We believe Fubo Sportsbook will provide an elevated sports entertainment experience that will bring increased interaction and engagement between sports viewing and betting. We are working with regulators in additional markets as we aim to truly innovate the gaming space.”
The operator has also agreed on a market access deal for the state of Arizona.
Fubo enters Arizona
Fubo has also agreed on a market access deal with the Ak-Chin Indian Community for sports betting in the state of Arizona.
The operator plans to launch its mobile app under Ak-Chin’s new license, which it received from the Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) last week.
Last week, the ADG revealed that 18 out of a potential 20 sports betting licenses had been awarded to a combination of sports organizations and tribal groups.
Butera said: “We are thrilled to partner with Ak-Chin for a market access agreement in Arizona. Our comprehensive sports entertainment experience is envisioned to combine real-money wagering with fuboTV’s live sports offering for a seamless user experience enabling consumers to wager while they watch. Arizonans are passionate professional and collegiate sports fans who we believe will enjoy the market-defining Fubo Sportsbook.”
Ak-Chin chairman Robert Miguel added: “With this sports betting license and our strategic partnership with Fubo Sports, we know we’ll be able to offer our customers the kind of premier entertainment experience they’ve come to expect from Ak-Chin, whether they visit our sportsbook in-person or online.”
Fubo has also secured market access into the state of Pennsylvania via The Cordish Companies as well as in Indiana and New Jersey via Caesars Entertainment Inc.
Fubo’s road to becoming a US sportsbook operator
Fubo made its first move into the online sports betting market in December 2020 when it acquired the fantasy sports supplier Balto Sports.
Back in March, the streaming service provider announced that it has completed its acquisition of the sports betting start-up Vigtory. This would allow the firm to accelerate its sports betting launch.
Last month, during a Q2 update, Fubo revealed its revealed details of its Fubo Sportsbook which includes a Live Sync functionality. According to FuboTV its Live Sync function marks an industry first for the sports betting space.
The Live Sync function will work by linking the sports betting app to a Fubo streaming account. From there, the app will display betting markets for whatever the user is watching.
To begin with, Fubo will launch a standalone sportsbook app, then it will integrate that app into the core Fubo streaming product.
